What a weird statement.  I’m being offered a role and asked for more. I always ask for more.  Is this not standard? Does it indicate that I think I’m “hot shit”?  If you’re gonna get more you have to establish that at the outset.  No one is able to successfully negotiate once they’re locked in.[/quote]

Not a weird statement at all. You simply don't understand it.

Your request for more does not indicate that you "aren't the hot shit you think you are." Your attempt to negotiate salary is to be expected. It is your befuddlement over the recruiter's response to it that indicates that you are failing to understand your place here and your worth in the context of this particular job. [/quote]
