The thing is, the reason she's never done a sleepover is that she's never actually been invited for one. She would say that I don't let her go on them, because she is thinking of a couple times several years ago when she asked me (in general) if she could do a sleepover and I said I didn't think we were ready as a family yet. But then I just assumed it wasn't a thing that was happening because she never got an invite. But now she claims everyone does them.

To be clear, she has friends. But only one good friend from school who I know doesn't do sleepovers (this friend has some developmental delays and her parents are pretty protective). Her other close friends are through activities and our neighborhood, and I don't think those families do sleepovers either (I know the parents well enough that I feel I would know if they were hosting these). She has one friend who does sleepovers but who is two years older and does them with girls her own age. I'm pretty sure those only started in the last year or so.

I'm not opposed to it, assuming it's a family we know and the kids are actually ready for it. But I'm kind of at a loss because now she is complaining as though I'm keeping her from doing them but I think it's more that the "sleepover kids" at her school are not part of her social circle so she is not being included in it, and the kids in her social circle don't seem to do sleepovers.
