Yes the bystander hero was spectacular in his bravery - after seeing the carnage unfold around him, Ahmed al Ahmed, 43, ran at the gunman and seized his weapon, before turning the gun round on him and forcing his retreat. He was shot multiple times and has since undergone surgery for his wounds.
His father told BBC Arabic: "Ahmed was driven by his sentiment, conscience and humanity.

There were many other heroes that day. I agree that it is inportant to recognize and honor them and the way community came together to mitigate the horror and to help the victims.

A lone female senior inspector police officer shot and killed one of the attackers at the scene, ending his immediate threat.

A husband and wife died trying to stop the shooters before they started firing.

A group of off-duty lifeguards sprinted across the sand under fire to drag children from a playground to safety inside the surf club headquarters. They then performed CPR on shot victims and used surfboards as makeshift stretchers to carry the bleeding to safety.

Ambulance paramedics worked tirelessly.

I hope something like this never happens again in Australia and that their tightening of gun laws helpsAZG NO prevent further acts of terrorism/ mass shootings. However, very grateful for the actions of so many good samaritans that day.
