https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_and_drink_prohibitions Is there some significance behind different religions having different food related restrictions? Same goes for alcohol consumption.
e.g., some Christian religions can drink a lot of alcohol, whereas Mormons can't drink at all. I think it. has to do with when the religion was formed. In olden days, there wasn't anything to drink except something with alcohol in it (ergo it was clean). But later, when Mormonism and 7th day adventism were formed, we had better sanitation. I think some newer branches of Protestantism also don't allow drinking alcohol, because of how silly some people get when drinking. Also, Orthodox Jews today can't eat Pork -- It's considered to be unclean. I think because it was dangerous to eat it many years ago. Now it's OK, but the rule remains.
As I remember, Jesus turned water into wine, so wine was definitely OK in those days
