If you require vein matching or directionality in counters, you might want to proceed carefully. We didn’t have those things. And make sure you are clear on the right overhang and angles for your space — if you have inset cabinetry the template technicians won’t really be able to help you, as they work almost exclusively with overlay doors and drawers.

One thing I figured out is that there’s a way to read the reviews for countertops from particular HD stores. It was a little hard to find the store-specific reviews, but they’re there (store location will be in the URL when you find it). As far as I understand, individual stores have exclusive contracts with one or two private fabricators, and you can use the reviews to figure out which fabricator that store would use, then read the Google reviews for the fabricators (or even call them). We found big differences between customer satisfaction across stores, so we went with the store that had the best reviews.
