Kidney failure, waterboarding, and hazing off campus at an Alumni's house...sickening... https://abc13.com/post/waterboarding-forced-eating-physical-punishment-lawsuit-alleges-abuse-faced-injured-pledge-uhs-pi-kappa-phi-fraternity/18186418/
Terrible that schools allow kids to be subjected to such horrible abuse
They don't "allow" it. These are private chapters of the greek system and the students - technically adults in the college world - can make their own decisions whether or not to participate. When something tragic happens - because the students (not the college) made bad choices - the universities sometimes shut the frats down, as did UVA.
If schools wanted to disallow it, they wouldn't allow involved fraternities to have on campus housing, they would suspend/expel involved students, and they would loudly condemn it. In the article about Dartmouth, it talked about how the school instituted swimming lessons after a hazed student drowned, instead of speaking out against the role alcohol, and forced alcohol consumption, played.
