If she moves down an age group, will she be with her school year cohorts or will she be playing with the grade below? If she will be playing with the grade below, think about her path forward and if you care about recruiting down the line when you would try to have her play with her grade.
Dude you need to get out of all these threads - My daughter is a an Oct birthday who will be playing with her grade for the first time since she started. Do not mess up this thread as well. We do not want you here.
?? Why the weird hostility? OP said they had a Q3 child who could move to the younger group - so, an August or maybe September birthday. PP then pointed out that moving to the younger group could be an issue if it separates them from their school grade. Seems like a valid point to make; not sure why that would upset anybody.
They aren't responding to the OP, it's to the mentally unwell play up crazy that ruined all the other threads.
I am the PP that posted the question about grade and I am not the person who is hung up on it in the other threads. I posted because it is something to consider, even if OP decides they don’t care if their player is aligned with their grade. But if they do care, that should be a factor when looking at clubs. The answer could be that they want their August 2 kid to be the oldest for several years and then will evaluate when they get to HS. Or, they have an August kid who is a grade lower for whatever reason so grade won’t be an issue.
The OP has a 2014. Thinking about college versus playing in the ideal environment for development is the opposite of good parenting and quality advice. It is bad advice and like the other person suggested, stay out of any further strings with any mention to grade. If you are not aware of the "Trapped player..." string or the "ECNL..." strings and the non-stop antics of one or multiple posters on this grade thing, it is incoherent and we simply ask that you stay out of this string. It is simply ruining the discussions. You play your age group. IF you are dominant in your age group, you will know, the club will know, etc. 99.9% of kids do not dominate their age group warranting play up. If somehow your kid stayed back and playing below their grade, deal with it on your own. THE END.
