Does anyone have any tips for coping with a disease that isn't going to get better? How have you managed along with the other responsibilities of life and not gotten discouraged? Thank you to anyone who can share and I wish you better health.
I have Parkinsons disease and ulcerative colitis. And I've spent a fair amount of time in those communities. The people who seem to struggle the most with their diagnosis are those who have a mindset that their life is uniquely challenging and horrible because of their diagnosis, while everyone else has it easy. The key for me has been to realize that NOBODY has an easy life. Everyone faces obstacles. Those obstacles may be unique to each person, but we all have them. I also have found it helpful to focus my attention on how to work around my challenges so that I can continue to do things that I enjoy, rather than ruminate on those challenges.
