[quote=Anonymous]I grew up in an extremely Christian family (non-denominational, evangelical). Try as I might (and I tried everything, including short stints as a missionary), I have never really had faith in the Christian sense. I love the values but I don't believe any of the theology. I'm married and my husband is Catholic, our children are baptized Catholic, we attend mass every week, and I like mass and the Sunday school, community, values, etc. I just lack the actual faith and any care about the theology. I was furloughed during the shutdown, and volunteered almost every day at a place with extreme need. It brought me the most satisfaction I've had in years (outside of my family). I am touched by the impact on the people (mostly children) my small contribution has made. I feel like a better person, a better partner, parent, citizen, etc., because of this. I almost feel like a religious/spiritual impact from this. Not anything about God, but about humanity, connection, service, etc. As I'm back to work as a fed, and don't get much meaning from my work this year, I'm committed to continuing this volunteer work 1-2 times a week, an hour or so at a time. I did today, and I hope to make this a regular schedule. Would you say it is reasonable to ask for a religious accommodation request to enable a flexible schedule to continue this volunteer service?
