Cobra and Obamacare (plans under the Affordable Health Care act.) The Mennonites offer some plans that are more affordable than those under the Affordable Health Care site. They have a government exemption to sell plans. Religious entities are legally allowed to sell health care plans for individual and families. Google Mennonite Health Care plans. My therapist told me about them as he has his individual insurance through them and when my Obamacare became $1300 per month for the cheapest plan and it had a $7000 deductible I needed another option. Prior to the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act under President Obama there was a lot of plans that you could shop for the best price for individuals and families. They are no longer allowed to be sold under the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act. The direction is to have everyone who does not have workplace insurance get coverage through the government Affordable Health Care site.
Be careful of these plans. They don't cover what you think they do, and they have a cap. I looked into these plans, and they are more like pre ACA plans where there is a cap on how much the insurance company will pay out, and it has a limit to how many times the insurance will cover visits to the doctor. I talked to an agent of such plans and asked what would happen if I got cancer or something serious like that where I could easily hit the cap, and they said that the next year the insurance company would probably kick me off the plan, and I would have to... get this... go on Obamacare. https://moneywise.com/insurance/health/nc-woman-charged-a-shocking-12k-after-canceling-confusing-health-insurance-but-states-industry-watchdog-cant-help-heres-her-warning
