I'm new to PVS and trying to understand the difference between SC Senior and SC Junior Championships. My last LSC had the typical LC/SC championships where one was had different qualifying times for the various age group times below 15-18 (ie 8&U, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14) and the other was a singular set of qualifying times for anybody 18&U. Of course every LSC has their own naming conventions, but they all seem to be essentially the same thing. PVS SC 14&U / PVS LC Age Group seems to be the former and PVS SC Senior / PVS LC Open seems to be the latter. So what exactly is PVS SC Junior Champs?
https://www.pvswim.org/2526meet/2026-SC-Open-Championships-Qualifying-Times.pdf As PP said. It is one meet and here are the times.
I was confused as the PVS meet schedule located at https://www.pvswim.org/schedule.html shows them as two distinct meets, although on the same exact days at UMD.
Junior/Senior SC champs up until this year were run as 2 separate meets that happened simultaneously. UMD uses 2 pools at SC champs for prelims so that’s how they could run these meets at the same time. They have not put the meet announcement for SC champs out yet, but the qualifying times are out and there is now only 1 qualifying time for each event (there used to be 1 for junior champs and 1 for senior champs). The new QTs generally are what used to be the junior champs cuts so the junior champs level kids will still qualify for this meet, but they are unlikely to make finals. Before, because it was 2 separate meets, junior champs had its own finals heats. They are adding extra heats to finals though.
