[/quote] Having 40+ girls at Madison tryouts is pretty normal. Even with some cuts, there were 39 girls on the team last year and 34-35 the year before. “Cut” times are based performance at tryouts. Historically it’s been the top 20 freestylers plus the top few in each stroke event from the remaining swimmers who make it. So basically the times needed change every year (although FWIW the talk used to be girls should aim for a sub-30 50 free to be “safe”). [/quote]
