Just call Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's and ask for a stylist appointment and tell them what you are looking for.
I am so sick of people suggesting this. What if we simply want to shop on our own or online and don't need a "stylist appointment"?
That’s fine, although it strikes me as a little odd that someone who is crowdsourcing anonymous hordes for shopping suggestions gets “sick of people suggesting “ that actual professionals with relevant expertise be consulted too. I like Eileen Fisher, Lafayette, and Max Mara. Saks usually has the classics and brands that work well for me. YMMV of course. Years ago I worked with a wonderful personal shopper who helped me build my wardrobe as a young professional. The brands that she introduced me to are still very much a part of my wardrobe today.
