I had to explain to my DD that it's not appropriate to tell other people about my health issues, when I discovered she was sharing details about an ongoing health concern with friends at school who were reporting it to their parents. I wasn't mortified, but I didn't love having that info shared like that. So I had to explain to her that it's not appropriate to share info about other people's health or bodies -- that's something people should get to decide themselves whether or not to share.

I also know she likely shared the info because my health problems were a source of stress for her -- she may have been seeking reassurance or trying to figure out if other kids' parents have health issues. Which I would also assume is why the kids whose parents are fighting or on the brink of divorce are doing -- seeking reassurance and validation about something that upsets them. [/quote]
