I would rate it a 5/10 experience so far. Given the rush to implement this, our school was unable to procure an on-site teacher, so they went virtual instead. Not ideal for 6th graders Due to the initial messaging that the grade would be permanent after first quarter, half of the kids dropped it. It is unfortunate that the guidance indicating the grade can be expunged after the school year came so late. I applaud the existing kids trudging thru the mud, paving the way for next year. I think it will be successful, despite the rhetoric from some teachers, who were displeased with the quick and dirty implementation, trying to get the kids to drop it
I don't know where your messaging came from, but the expunge option was clear both from our school and from DCUM from the beginning.
Can't really blame them, but it was the school principal, working off of the limited information at the time. The message was: you can drop the class before end of 1st quarter without consequence. After 1st quarter, you will receive withdraw pass or withdraw fail, depending on what the students grade was when withdrawing. Scared many people off Maybe six or seven (heh) weeks after the school year began, it was clarified that the option to expunge exists (and had always existed)
