The part that bothers me is that most of the conferences that these schools play in do not permit athletic scholarships (for example neither the WCAC nor the ISL allow athletic scholarships) but these schools will give a talented athlete need-based aid in cases where there likely is not a significant financial need. I've heard that is what happened to Flint Hill volleyball - the school changed its practice of giving need based aid to players and top volleyball players stopped flocking there.
