Received an email from Virginia tech today that seems to be saying that they can't promise they will have any slots left when they get around to regular decision. This is a small sample: "Regular Decision is looked at on a space available basis, so we encourage students to apply Early Action. We do not use first semester or mid-year grades in our application process, so students do not need to delay their applications to Virginia Tech."
So? It's a reality that if a school offers any form of Early action and it's not binding (like ED), your kid must do that. It shows you are organized, planners and on top of things and most importantly that you really want to attend that school. If you cannot be bothered to get an app in by Nov 1/15, then you loose out. It's that way at many schools. And a great tool for schools to use. Nobody is stopped from doing it unless they are lazy and not ready to submit. ANd before anyone says it---very few kids will benefit from waiting and submitted fall senior year grades.
