He tried some basic talk to text last year and it was a little "clunky" especially the edit process, perhaps there is a learning curve or a better program? Some of the challenge is in short answer / paragraph type assignments vs. essays.

We have also done some scribe work for him but that's not sustainable long term; I see a DRAMATIC improvement with the depth of his thoughts (even compared to his typing) with this method so can do it when I can.
 
Perhaps the tool would vary by type of assignment task. For example, I wanted to have him think about an answer to a short answer that might be needed on an upcoming test and had him talk and record it on his phone; wasn't being turned in so that system worked. It took 20 seconds vs several minutes plus a fight.
