1) A short term deal is outlined and we all go through this bullshit exercise again at the end of the summer of 2013 because the deal will have a bunch of expiring provisions that again need to be addressed

2) We go off the cliff and a "new" debate begins on "cutting" taxes leading to a whole new set of silly arguments and back and forth. A "temporary" Bush tax extension is passed (for everyone or maybe folks making a million keep their increase) but bottom line, the issue will be revisited sometime in the future

3) We go off the cliff and nothing happens to us. Sure out taxes go up, but the end of days scenarios outlined by the press dont really happen. There will be stories about people impacted by the tax increase (people who were barely making ends meet now dealing with living on less due to tax cuts etc) but overall, there will be no real rush to "fix" anything leading to more talking and running to the microphone to blame someone.

I guess I dont have a good feeling about the outcome nor confidence in any party doing anything. [/quote]
