I drove into Washington DC to meet a friend at the museum. Parking was so much more difficult than usual. So many locations are restricted and have signage such as “authorized permit parking only. Another said what looked like “SWA(?)” Parking. Can anyone explain what either of these are about?
Stop crying and take the Metro if you don't like it.
You have to drive to the Metro and park there, too much work to spend so much time getting to DC if you live in any close-in suburb where driving takes 10-20 min to get to where you need to be. DC makes stupid rules trying to follow NYC which has magnitude higher density and where it makes sense while DC itself is mostly empty with barely any people walking around and its businesses could use a little patronage from the suburbanites who have a lot of other options for dining/entertainment nowadays with easy parking. At some point people will stop making an effort, which won't be great for DC local economy. It's not like offices are full at their previous pre-Covid capacity or ever will be.
