I wish I had my DS at least take a course or do some practice tests or study for the test because his Catholic HS used the HSPT test scores for placements in 9th grade science (bio) and English. The school used separate placement tests at the beginning of the summer before 9th grade for incoming students for foreign language and math only. I really felt that my kid could have taken honors biology based on his excellent science grades and overall intelligence but based on his English scores on the HSPT they wouldn't budge. I even offered recommendations from his MS science teachers but they were not interested. I think there is still time to take an online course before the December test. I highly recommend doing one.
