8th grade DS was diagnosed with dysgraphia (+dyscalc) late last spring. We are working through the 504 process now. Did not qualify for an IEP (and even our private neuropsych thought he wouldn't). Based on some of his assignments he definitley needs more 1:1 support on writing the structure of a paragraph/essay. He will likely get the typing/voice to text accomodation. A key challenge is that he often thinks what he has is "good" and "complete", even when it's not. I'm losing my mind and worry about damaging our overall relationship by pointing out the room for improvement. We are looking for an ONLINE course or tutor. Does anyone here have specific recommendations/? This needs to be online and somewhat flexible (juggling lots of other after-school logisitcs and a math tutor). He has done well with online format and think it would work in this subject). On a related note, has anyone found a summer program that might incorporate added support for writing/academics that is ALSO fun and not necessarily LD specific? Years ago, when I was his age, I did the Exploration program--and loved it--and most of the classes were fun but some might have worked on these skills. Thanks!
