I just smile and mentally roll my eyes. Every generation has parents like this. It’s NBD.
+1. Yeah, it's annoying. But better than the parents who put their kids down.
Agree as long as they are just praising their own kids. Some parents like to compare their kids to other kids in order to highlight how their kid is better. This is the worst.
If you are talking to a bunch of parents of kindergarteners boasting about your child’s reading, it is comparing whether you say it or not. You may not say Johnny can read better than Bobby but if you’re talking to Bobby’s mom and Bobby is reading Go Spot, it is kind of rude. I remember when my oldest was this age, he couldn’t read. There was this one mom who could not shut up about how smart her daughter was, how she had to get her tested for being gifted, etc. Our kids are now in high school and that mom no longer says anything about the girl. For colleges, you need a good resume and the girl has no activities. My non reading kindergarten child now has perfect grades and a robust extracurricular list.
