Other school districts announce, but crickets from DCPS... Likely because most are not from DCPS schools.
That's always the case though. Smart kids from throughout the region come to the region's best private schools, which are in the District, and take most of the DC NMSF slots.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Walls typically has a handful, and BASIS and JR and Latin and DCI have a few. With the high school ecosystem changing so rapidly I'm curious to see if there are any changes. Like, was the MIT acceptee from McKinley a NMSF and bring them into the list this year? Will Banneker have any? Etc.
The bar here is so incredibly high. I was one internationally and I think DC had a higher score that year. I thought the numbers were posted for this year on another thread sometime back?
Both DC and international students overseas are set to the threshold of the highest achieving state. This year that is 225 (highest being NJ and MA), which is higher thatn MD and VA (224). I don't understand why DC's threshold isn't set at the cutoff for its highest 1% of students.
If everyone at a DCPS, charter, and private took the PSAT that would be how many students? DCPS doesn’t actually tell us how many high schoolers are enrolled, so I dunno, maybe 2-3000 kids (out of 50k in the entire system). Anyway the 1% might result in a world where the entire Sidwell 11th grade class got it.
