And I hired a woman into her first job in another role that is in my opinion also too far down on the salary band. She asked for 10% less than the mid point of the current salary band, HR suggested the midpoint of the salary band, and I said give her 5% more than the midpoint, and I straight up said, she is young and does not know how important this negotiation is for her career future earnings, we should do this for her.

I fought really hard not to be in this role and some of the day to day really drains me, but this has me feeling good and like I'm making an impact.
