I am 20 hours away from maxing out my vacation accrual. I get notices that I am getting close but have been monitoring it and have never exceeded the max. Yesterday I called out sick because I was not feeling well. My supervisor asked me if I would use my vacation time instead of sick leave. I told her no and now she is giving me attitude. Was I in the wrong??? BTW, I rarely call out sick and I also have a lot of sick time accrued.
Was your sick day right after a holiday or other vacation day? At my work we’ve been advised that calling out before/after a weekend or holiday is subject to scrutiny and/or discipline
I think this is likely it. And I wouldn't assume she thinks you were lying about being sick, rather she may have been under pressure regarding absences around holidays. Even if she's not not mad at you, it's possible some frustration over that pressure is coming through. I wouldn't fret over this unless there are other signals of problems.
