We moved from a Deal/JR feeder DCPS to a Silver Creek/BCC feeder. We are much happier than we were in DCPS. What DCPS are you zoned for?
That's not surprising.
What’s not surprising about it? Deal/JR are the 2 best non-magnet schools in DCPS.
Yes, and they are still about as good as a middle-of-the-road MCPS school. I'm not sure this will look, but compare the proficiency rates between Jackson-Reed and three schools in Maryland. The first is Blair, probably the closest analogue to J-R in MCPS due to a mix of UMC and poor kids. The second is Albert Einstein, a perfectly lovely school that is often disparaged on this board. The third is B-CC, which OP is considering and which snobs consider the weak link among the Bethesda schools. All three are substantially higher performing than J-R, without even introducing schools like Wootton and Whitman to the list. https://www.niche.com/k12/compare/?type=school&schools=jackson-reed-high-school-washington-dc-vs-montgomery-blair-high-school-silver-spring-md-vs-albert-einstein-high-school-kensington-md-vs-bethesda-chevy-chase-high-school-bethesda-md
