Today was DD's last day of school before the break and the aid just gave me a talk on how I should turn the carseat around because "it's time already" and DD is "more than old enough" to FF. DD is 30lbs, 2.5yo and her carseat limit is 50lbs. I told the aid that while it does take us a few seconds more to strap her in that way she's safer so she'll be RF for a while longer. She rolled her eyes. I felt like getting off the car and finishing the buckling myself but held up my words and just mentioned DD has a condition and her doctor believes she's safer facing back and will stay there until the limit of the carseat permits. I felt like sharing AAP's new guidelines, etc but I know they would fall in deaf ears. I'm so tired of reminding them to remove the coat before putting DD in her seat and now this? Sorry but I just had to vent.
Why don't you write a letter to the director of the school and ask that over the break as they are reviewing safety operating policies, they add in car safety. Why don't you provide a quick checklist to help: 1. Puffy jackets removed 2. Straps clipped at armpits 3. etc.
