I do project-based work, and I have a side business. I work around my family situation. The times I work depend on what is going on. For example, I might work from 5am-7am. Then from 12pm-3pm. Then from 8pm-11pm. Or maybe I will work from 6am-12pm. And then from 8pm-11pm. If my husband is available to watch the kids. Or maybe I will only work overnight. It just all depends. I have a lot of freedom because it is the results that matter, not the hours. This has allowed me to use my skills, while still being home with my kids. I can vacation any time I want, we only have to worry about one schedule (DH's). I can take sick days whenever the kids need me. I can be there for all of the milestones. This is what I value. I need a very flexible schedule, and I need to be with my kids. This may be unusual on this board, but I know many other women just like me. They all do different things, but it’s the same principle. Next year I will be hiring for a few roles, and I am going to look for SAHM's who are professional, able to manage their time well, and who have the skills required. Why moms? Well, I won’t advertise it as such, and anyone is welcomed to apply but I want to help others have the same opportunities that I have had. Sometimes all people need is a little guidance, not criticism. I'm amazed at how so many people have no idea about the opportunities that are available to them. But you have to want it. I’ve tried to help people before and it hasn’t worked because some people need everything handed to them on a plate. Some people really do just need to go sit in an office. You have to have a certain type of drive and creativity to be able to have certain opportunities. And by opportunities, I do not mean MLM or things of that nature. Not to criticize that, but hmmmmm. That's really not what I am talking about. So there are many ways to skin a cat. Think outside the box, and if you want an opportunity, and it's just not happening, then learn how to create one for yourself. If you are happy with your current situation, then be happy. But if you wish there was another way, I am just sharing my story. Take from it what you want.
