Do what you love. I am always skeptical about a kid who "wants to make a lot of money." I understand not wanting to be poor and wanting to afford nice things, but they should do what excites them.

Work for a large real estate developer. Commercial or residential. Knowing the behind the scenes of what a contractor does could be very helpful. He has worked hard to get an engineering degree. This is a way to apply it.

You don't just go into a job and sit at a desk and make money. You have to actually do something well to make money. So what he does should be something he enjoys and finds interesting. That being said, no kid says "I want to be an equity derivatives sales person" yet plenty of people do that and make a lot of money.

I know this is an anonymous board and you are asking to look for ideas. I'm just saying that though there are some people who like to hear it (there are still some "Greed is good" types left on Wall Street), most people hear a kid say "I want to make a lot of money" and it sounds very striver-y.[/quote]
