It's probably because they KNOW all MCPS devices will be compatible with the app they need. They may not have extra devices to issue to students or a limited amount.

It must have to do with being in an MCPS building.  My kid took it Sunday and never received any such notice but was at a private school building (though an MCPS student).

To those snarkily saying she should just follow the directions, kids do practice tests on their preferred computer.  Changing it up at the last minute would be stressful and could potentially slow them down on a high stakes timed test.  Plus, if you've already checked in on your preferred computer, you're quite possibly going to mess things up more by trying to check in again on a different computer.

OP-- curious if you learned anything (for those with kids in mcps buildings in the next round of testing).
