I think you meant to say that since your kid had to be special and not follow the school recommended science pathways there are now having trouble fitting in a required course usually completed in 9th grade. You are unlikely to get a personal experience comment, because most people don’t do this. If they are in an IBDP program, what science are they taking? AP Bio has Biology as a prerequisite and you don’t want to wait until senior year to take the MISA. I think your kid should take Honors Bio through OPTG during this school year and take the MISA in spring.
Wow! You've made a lot of assumptions. So I'm the OP. My kid did precisely the sequence of classes (science pathway) that was recommended by the school and IB advisers: MYIB Physics (like Hon Physics) in 9th grade and MYIB Chem (like Hon Chem) in 10th grade. The problem arose because the school only has one class period scheduled for too many required IB Diploma Program classes this coming school year. Science, English, Foreign Language, Theory of Knowledge and Bio were all trying to fit into too few class periods. I have no idea why they didn't deconflict this, but this pathway was the one recommended both as an incoming freshman and last year when kid was choosing classes. All these classes have to be taken this year and the easiest way to solve the problem for my kid this year was to switch from IB Bio to IB Chem. BTW, according to counselor at school either OPTG or summer school honors bio should theoretically satisfy the MISA requirement. I was asking the community here to see if anyone had gone either route and had some experience on how it was taking the end of course test.
