I am middle aged and only have credit cards that I pay off in full every month because back when I opened them, credit cards had better fraud protection than debit cards. I’ve read the fine print and it looks like debit card protection is akin to credit card protection now. Has anyone had a fraudulent debit reversed from a debit cards before successfully? I’m looking into finally getting one so appreciate any feedback from current debit card holders.
I have but as PP said, the difference is WHO is out the money while the investigation/dispute is investigated. Another issue that can come up are the various holds that can happen that often can take days until they are removed during which time that money isn't available for you to use with your card. See: https://www.creditninja.com/blog/how-to-remove-hold-on-a-debit-card/ Stick with a credit card and just pay the in full each month and you'll be in a better position from a consumer protection standpoint.
