[/quote] Having known (personally) and represented (professionally) a number of women in similar situations, and I can report it’s complicated. There are violent abusers, but there are also couples who seem to thrive on physical fights that really don’t rise to the level of DV. Sometimes the women are the abusers. A sometimes the police get involved when the wife really isn’t being abused and doesn’t want to blow up her family…or the breadwinner husband/father. If they were due in court and he threatened her, it would be really easy for her to flag that for the prosecutor, police, etc. Had he threatened her, she would have been best served by showing up, not leaving. She likely left because she didn’t want the court to destroy her family. Let’s see if she stays with him. [/quote]
