My friend has that same diagnosis. We've been friends for 21 years, she's been married to the same guy for about 25, and she has two very sweet, upstanding kids in college and has held a job the entire time I've known her. Super stable. [/quote]

Exactly.  He treats it really seriously and accepts treatment.  I also don’t think it has as strong a genetic component as some things like OCD, schizophrenia etc.    
acknowslwging a problem and dealing with it makes a huge difference.  I have a relative with adhd who started treatment as a kid and has really worked on it — he’s the best husband because he’s so thoughtful about what he needs to do and how to do it.  It’s the guys who say “I don’t have an issue—I’m just fin/different/quirky/a genius” that you need to watch out for.  
Not saying this is gojng to work out but I’m pulling for him.  He’s obviously really close to his mom and has a lot of feelings about losing his dad so I actually think the parenting role is probably something he takes really seriously. [/quote]
