The dog can't be allowed to catch the car, and when it does, for example with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it turns out life isnt' any better, no one is happier and no one has stopped having abortions. They're just more expensive and dangerous. So, you're right, we won't get the nice stuff, the stuff that makes us rich and, for so long, admired and respected... and we'll be stuck with a fake never-ending chase for something that can't be had.
