Most people only have experience with one school but I can say for my child with a similar dx one of the West Springfield pyramid schools has been a good fit, and support in middle has also been good. Housing can be a challenge to find and you will likely not be about to focus in just on one elementary. The pool of available homes will be too small. We were looking at homes in either West Springfield HS pyramid, Lake Braddock Secondary, and Robinson (lower ranked for us). I looked specifically at the standardized test scores for children with disabilities compared across school division and Virginia, and tried to weigh that against schools with dedicated programming (AAP etc). I looked at the whole pyramid (HS and MS) because we won’t move again hopefully. Good luck! Things haven’t been perfect for us, but both of our children who have IEPs have improved significantly since moving here.
+1 Have a kid in the exact same situation- ASD 1, West Springfield Area. School has been great and we have gotten more support when we asked for it. I would agree nothing is perfect, but I’m a teacher and have been pleased with our child’s services here (I don’t think we would have gotten as much where I teach).
