Really depends on the thing that needs "fixing", your kid's ability to take direction, someone providing good direction, and also whether you can sustain the new technique under duress. Yes, you can fix an 8U kid who's pulling past the hip line in breaststroke, but if your kid is older is trying to fix something more nuanced and has some crusty habits, then yeah expectations should be measured.
