I see online that staying with certain federal health plans and signing up for Part B immediately can qualify him for a subsidy toward Part B. He doesn't want to sign up for Part B. And I realize there is no penalty for waiting on Part B if he keeps his current health insurance. He has United Health Care and apparently they have an option that combines everything and he will have very little out of pocket costs like copays, etc. That's primarily what I'm trying to do -- minimize cost. He's on my health insurance too but refuses to drop his. And maybe he shouldn't. I just can't navigate it myself (his first language is not English and he has signs of early dementia.
