Is that just because every team always seems to need premium positions?[/quote] For pitchers, yes. Good pitchers will have their choice of teams and they'll want to lock down a player immediately. As the kids get older some of them won't even really need to tryout -- teams begin to know the good pitchers. Catchers, I'm not sure. There seem to be more good catchers than pitchers. Our softball team holds two practices and announces the roster a few days after the second one.[/quote]
