The portion close to the founder’s house was actually gorgeous, but it’s further away from the rest of the campus, and main areas seemed unkempt and in rather poor condition. Vassar was the same, BTW. Lovely at a distance, but when you get close to the buildings, a lot of them are in disrepair. By contrast, Middlebury is newer and very impressive from a grounds and buildings perspective. I have visited a LOT of east coast campuses. I am not opining on reputation or academic caliber of institutions. The one we preferred was Williams. My kid ended up at a large urban private university, so no skin in this game.[/quote]
