They are the smallest and most vulnerable member of the family. Of course they will do what is adaptive to ensure they don’t get caught in their older siblings’ cross hairs. My youngest is very independent, but also somewhat “manipulative” (she’s 2) in the sense she uses her cuteness to get what she wants. She also wants to keep up with her older siblings, so she’s done a lot of things earlier than both of them. My middle daughter wants to keep up with her older sister, so she’s always asking for homework (she’s almost 4). She’s also more cautious and stubborn and she likes being taken care of, so she will ask me to help her do things she doesn’t enjoy. I’m fine with that though.
