We want to take a moment to provide important context following a recent article that implied there is currently mold in our building.

In August of 2024, before school began, we experienced mold growth on some surfaces, such as desks and chairs, due to a combination of extreme temperatures and humidity. As soon as this was identified, we immediately contacted the MCPS Indoor Air Quality team. A professional remediation team was dispatched to remove and dispose of any affected furniture, thoroughly disinfect and sanitize all surfaces, and conduct comprehensive air quality testing in every room.  All air quality tests came back clear.

Since then, we have continued to work closely with the MCPS operations team to address heating and cooling issues in our building. MCPS has confirmed the full replacement of all HVAC units, with work scheduled to begin on June 18 and be completed by July 3. In the meantime, MCPS has offered to provide individual cooling units and dehumidifiers for any classrooms in need to ensure the continued safety of our staff and students.

The safety and well-being of the Loiederman community remains our highest priority, and we appreciate the ongoing support from our community. We look forward to our new HVAC units being installed in June."[/quote]
