She gained more confidence and had a lot of fun in those early years at rec and as a result was mature and ready for the jump to travel. Everyone thinks the pressure to get your kid in as soon as they hit u8/u9 because they think their child will be left behind and miss out. That's completely false! Make sure your child is having fun and loves the game first then let them jump to the next level when they are ready. Don't take the scraps of a 4th team simply because of FOMO. My DD within a year was on the 1st team of her club and had a joy for the game that many of the other kids lacked... it was actually sad to see the worn out looks on many of these kids faces. Let your kid enjoy rec, there is plenty of time for her to develop and join travel at a later date.[/quote]
