Does Verizon still charge a monthly fee for using their router? We use our own router on Verizon. It paid for itself rather quickly.
Are you paying a monthly fee for a router OP? I have an Ethernet cable that snakes into the house from the box outside, my router is Google and works fine (though we are on an old plan $40 for 100MBs so it’s kinda slow, but works for all the streaming and remote work we do — I assume downloading movies would be faster but that’s only something we do when traveling). I would refuse new modem and cancel that part of your plan and just buy a router. Unless I’m missing something and it’s actually a FIOS modem that you need to present an Ethernet cable?
