I'd say you would be fine if flying AA back to DC, because you could go through security/recheck at the Bradley terminal at LAX after you arrive on EVA. At most you would have a 10 minute walk to your gate. The problem for this is that you will have to go from Bradley terminal to T7 for United, and I don't think you can recheck your bags at Bradley, you have to lug them with you to T7. That's a 15-ish minute walk outside along sometimes crowded sidewalks, or a possibly backed up traffic nightmare on a shuttle bus around the 2nd half of the LAX horseshoe. If you didn't have checked bags and know you can get through passport control quickly because of GE, I'd say it's very tight but possible, because you also wouldn't need the time to drop them off at United. With checked bags I think it's too tight. If there is another United flight an hour later, I'd be cool with that.
This is very helpful, did not realize there is no recheck. I need to line up to drop my bags at T7 again? This is the last flight of the day ☹️
Check with United. I've always been able to recheck my bag immediately after customs.
At Bradley for United flights? If so, yes that would help OP a lot to not have to lug bags to.T7. But still have to lug themselves. I'd budget 15 minutes for that, then another 10-15 to get to the gate from the T7 entrance. Gonna be very tight no matter what.
When I've taken international flights like this, there's been a bag recheck area just outside the customs exit doors. There are luggage conveyor belts, and staff issuing instructions, loudly. Because my bag was tagged through to IAD, I didn't have to get in any line - I just put the bag where I was told and off it went down the conveyor belt. I was then able to walk to T7 with just by hang luggage and go through TSA there. I have never managed to take the bus because I didn't know when it was coming, and after a long flight, walking was good for me.
That's great to hear, I didn't have details, but assumed you could only bag drop for airlines at Bradley and T4 (American). Definitely helpful for OP, but still think it's a very tight timeline to get done in 1:35: 1. Exit the plane (10 minutes if in economy) 2. Walk to passport control (5 minutes) 3. Clear passport control (5 minutes because of GE) 4. Wait for bags (10 minutes?) 5. Exit customs and drop bags (5-10 minutes) 6. Walk to T7 (15 minutes) 7. Clear T7 security and walk to gate (10 minutes) That's around an hour with no delays by my math, puts you at the gate 30 minutes before the United flight leaves. So yes, possible, but very tight and no room for error.
