Agreed re: biotin, as well as a very good 1-a-day multi specific to women over 50. You can find both at Whole Foods.
OP here-you've tried this and it works? Not sure I can go the Rogaine route because you have to apply it daily and let it sit for awhile. I don't know when I'd have time to do that.
My derm recommended using men's rogaine once a day. I put it on about an hour before going to bed and wash my hair in the morning. No big deal. Has made a very big difference.
This is what I do as well, I use the men's extra strength (5%) once a day (as opposed to the men's regular/women's 2% twice a day) at bedtime. I use the liquid dropper (not the foam) along the part and wherever else it is thinning and it takes about 10 seconds. After 3 months of use my copious shedding significantly decreased and by 12 months my hair volume probably doubled. The CVS/Walgreens generic brands are significantly cheaper than Rogaine and have the exact same active ingredient. To the PP who suggested extensions, I think that would be fine if you have thin and healthy hair, but if you have thin and thinning hair I would be worried about damaging the hair and that in the long run you would be worse off.
