La Paz is fairly developed these days. We kept an eye on stuff we left on the beach in La Paz when we went in the water but even so we had no issues. We didn’t go south of La Paz (or north of los Cabos) on the eastern side of the peninsula because it’s much more undeveloped (I think the rental car company even warned us they wouldn’t come get us if we got stuck on the dirt roads, driving between Los Cabos and La Paz was fine during daylight hours.
