Dominicans and Jesuits are both Catholic religious orders with distinct focuses. Dominicans, known as the Order of Preachers, emphasize preaching and theological study, while Jesuits, founded by Ignatius of Loyola, prioritize education, social justice, and global mission. Dominicans are deeply rooted in the tradition of the Middle Ages, while Jesuits emerged as a response to the Protestant Reformation.

Jesuits value education, philosophical debate and social justice. Jesuit priests are required to get a philosophy degree prior to ordination but most of them other degrees prior (such as pope who was a chemist). Jesuit schools and universities value rigorous approaches to pursuit of education, public discussion of social Justice related issues. They run schools all over the world that serve many poor people.
