I have been married for 20 years and we have a great marriage. It has it challenges of course but we compromise.

It would be foolish for anyone to act as if society is not different today. Human relationship are not the same anymore. People are more superficial. People are less likely to compromise and when they do they are bitter about it.

Of course OP should not generalize. However in today's context it's not so simple. Our society is just far more complex. Finances and the economy are a challenge for us to navigate. Those who manage to cultivate healthy relationships despite all these challenges are a minority. When people remain married it's not necessarily because they still want to be together. The alternative for many people forces them to remain in relationships that they don't want to be part of.[/quote]
